Why Choose Us?
The ESLSpeakNow Difference

We integrate the classroom with real-world experiences.
Students participate in weekly activities with native-speakers in authentic settings. Instructors work with students in class to prepare them for their weekly activities in native environments and to help them process their experiences from previous events. Instructors offer support, suggestions, and in class practice so students may better and more successfully engage in these real world environments each week.
Student Learning Trackers:

Students build a portfolio each cycle that includes transcripts of their speaking (from class recordings) and their writings (from class writing assignments). Instructors review students speaking (transcripts) and writing to offer feedback on what the student is showing mastery of and where they need continued focus. The student is not merely handed worksheets with numbers (grades) on them to understand their progress. We report students’ performance based on their real time speaking and written work. Typical teacher feedback on student portfolios can advise which verb tenses the student is showing mastery of in their speaking, missing phrasing surrounding a topic the class discussed, missing vocabulary surrounding a topic the class discussed, grammar and / or syntax the student is struggling with (as evidenced in their speaking and writing).
Measure Student Growth:

Rather than only use grades from exams and worksheets, the students progress is additionally reported to them through feedback in their Learning Tracker. Their productive skills (speaking / writing) are directly assessed and they are advised on what they’re doing well and specifically what they need continued work on.
Measure Student Vocabulary Acquisition

Vocabulary Tracker
We use a vocabulary app to track what words students acquire during the cycle and whether they are still learning them or have mastered them. By course’s end, students will be able to see how many words and which words they acquired during the cycle.
All Course Materials Included at no additional costs.
Speaking Intensive

How is intensive student speaking practice built into the Course?
Once a week the class participates in an activity with native speakers.
For example: (all activities are online)
Language Exchanges
Book Clubs
Toastmasters Public Speaking Clubs
Interest Groups
Trainings
Structured Class Discussions
(We employ Talk Moves to structure regular and frequent class discussions).
– Students write questions surrounding class text, video, or audio and pose those questions to their classmates.
Small Groups
The class breaks up into breakout rooms (2 or 3 students in each breakout room) and pair read to one another, work through coursework together, prepare for group presentations.
Student Presentations
Students present their work to the class. For one project, the class researched the status of HIV in Mozambique and DRC since several students in the course worked for NGO’s in the medical field in their respective home countries. Students had to explain data and charts, complete a writeup on the subject, employ adverb clauses and comparisons to explain the topic and compare data as well as adjective clauses to express their ideas. Each student presented their research to the class.
WhatsApp Discussion Group
In our WhatsApp group, students post text and audio comments to hold natural, authentic, and spontaneous conversations, respond to Quick Talk topics, carry on discussions around topics of interests, respond to mini-lessons, grammar video explanations, and poll questions.
1:1 Conversation Sessions
